The Junior Scientist Seminar is a monthly seminar series and networking event exclusively for early-career researchers (pre-doctoral school). The ability to clearly explain or present your research in an interesting and engaging way is a highly valued and critical skill that requires practice. Another important skill to develop is the ability (and confidence) to ask insightful and meaningful questions when others are presenting their work.
Our mission is to provide a career development and training opportunity for Junior Scientists to gain experience presenting scientific research in a supportive environment. Additionally, it is a great networking event for Junior Scientists to meet their peers.
Each month, 3–4 volunteers give a 10–12-minute presentation, followed by questions and a reception. The presentations can be on current research, research plans or a research paper of interest. Presenting multiple times is allowed and encouraged. The seminars alternate locations between Mission Bay and Parnassus and are also available on zoom.
